The attractiveness and public attention of the issue led us to the decision to produce a documentary about the activities of the project itself and the circumstances related to the return of the wolf as a top predator to human proximity. The film illustrates in particular the professional and applied approach related in the broadest sense to the challenge posed by the renewed coexistence of humans and wolves. The film is intended for the public of all ages and will be primarily provided to environmental authorities and educational institutions. A pair of filmmakers Sebastian Koerner from Germany and Michal Gálik on behalf of the Czech side took over the production of the film about the OWAD project. The film illustrates the activities and procedures of experts related to the return of wolves to the Central European landscape through the work of project partners and associated specialists. It also captures the public's reaction to the new situation and describes the process of wolf return and its causes. The screenplay of the film was written by Sebastian Koerner, Michal Gálik and Tomáš Jůnek. The director is Michal Gálik. The film is in Czech and German with subtitles. The footage of the film is 26 minutes and its premiere for the public took place within the Prague section of the Academia Film Olomouc (AFO), which was co-organized by the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague from 5 to 8 October 2020.
Film annotation: The wolf is repopulating Europe again and the Czech Republic is becoming its old-new home. The adaptability of wolves fascinates part of society, but also raises worries and anxieties. The beast, the most persecuted by humans, found its place in today's Central European cultural landscape. Will people also find the will to adjoin a top predator? And what is all that needs to be done? Czech-German cooperation of experts shows that once unthinkable coexistence is possible.
